Customized colorPol® polarizers

AR coating

An anti-reflective coating can be applied on one or both sides to optimize optical performance:


  • Increased transmission for better light transmission
  • Reduced reflection to minimize light loss

 

Shape and size

The dimensions can be selected up to the product-specific maximum sizes in 0.1 mm increments. Smaller tolerances are possible on request.

Standard colorPol® polarizers are manufactured in rectangular or round shape. Other geometries are available on request.


 

 

    Mounted

     

    All circular colorPol® polarizers can be supplied in the following standard mounts. A general specification of the standard mounts can be found here.

    Different frame diameters are available on request. It is also possible to send us special frames and we will frame the polarizer for you.

    Lamination and polishing

     

    The optical and mechanical properties can be improved by lamination. The polarizer is fixed between two optical glasses with optical adhesive and then polished.

    • Transmitted wavefront distortion (TWD): < λ/4 (at 633 nm over Ø10 mm)
    • Beam deflection: < 1 arc min.

    Standard thickness of the laminated and polished colorPol® is 2.0 mm. Other thicknesses are available on request.

     

    Polarization axis and structuring

    Polarization axis

    The polarization axis can be selected as required with an accuracy of 0.5°. For unmounted polarizers, the polarization axis can be marked with two points if desired.

    Tip: If the polarization axis is parallel to an edge in rectangular format, select different edge lengths.
    This makes it easy to identify the polarization axis.

     

    Structuring

    In contrast to conventional linear polarizers, which have identical optical properties across the entire clear aperture, structured polarizers can be divided into segments that have different properties.

    • Adjustment of the polarization axis, wavelength range or transparency
    • Size, shape and number of segments determine the appropriate manufacturing technology
