codixx AG is expanding its portfolio of dichroic glass polarizers with the new colorPol® VISIR XL. The new product variant combines high contrast across a broad spectral range with significantly larger available dimensions.
Thanks to its broadband polarization properties, the colorPol® VISIR is one of the most established products in the codixx portfolio. With the new VISIR XL, this product concept has been further developed for applications that require larger optical areas and improved coverage of the visible spectrum.
While the standard VISIR is available in square dimensions of up to 60 × 60 mm², the VISIR XL can be manufactured in formats of up to 80 × 80 mm². This represents an increase of approximately 78 percent in the maximum usable area.
High contrast from the visible to the near-infrared range
The spectral characteristics of the VISIR XL differ slightly from those of the standard VISIR, with a stronger focus on coverage of the visible spectrum. Across the entire wavelength range from 500 to 1,000 nm, it achieves a contrast ratio of more than 100,000:1. This makes the polarizer particularly suitable for demanding broadband applications in which reliable suppression of the unwanted polarization direction is essential.
By comparison, the standard colorPol® VISIR extends farther into the near-infrared range, achieving a contrast ratio of more than 100,000:1 between 600 and 1,200 nm and more than 10,000:1 between 550 and 1,500 nm.
“With the VISIR XL, we are expanding one of our most popular products with a particularly large-format version,” said Friederike Marschalk, Head of Marketing and Sales at codixx. “Our customers now have access to a broadband glass polarizer that combines high contrast, improved coverage of the visible spectrum, and a significantly larger usable area for demanding optical systems.”
Available in unlaminated and laminated versions
The colorPol® VISIR XL is available in both unlaminated and laminated versions. The unlaminated version enables particularly compact integration, while the laminated version provides additional mechanical stability and improved optical surface quality.
Like all colorPol® polarizers, the VISIR XL is based on dichroic glass containing embedded silver nanoparticles. This technology combines high polarization performance with long-term stability and resistance to UV radiation and many chemical influences.
Additional technical features include an acceptance angle of ±20°, precise polarization-axis alignment, and extensive customization options for dimensions, shape, and configuration.
For optical systems with large apertures
The colorPol® VISIR XL is particularly suitable for:
- large-format imaging and camera systems
- machine vision and inspection systems
- optical measurement and testing equipment
- display and projection technology
- broadband illumination and analysis systems
- life science and medical imaging
- research and development
With the introduction of the VISIR XL, codixx is expanding the application possibilities of broadband glass polarizers for systems in which standard component dimensions are not sufficient.
