Shape and size

Up to the product-specific maximum sizes, different dimensions are possible in 0.1 mm steps. Lower tolerances are possible on request.

As a standard, all colorPol® polarizers are manufactured as rectangular or round, other shapes are available on request.

    All circular colorPol® polarizers can be delivered in standard mounts. The general specification of all standard mounts can be found here.

    Special diameters and sockets are available on request. In addition, it is possible to send us special mounts and we take care of the mounting of the polarizer for you.

    Laminated, ground and polished

    The optical and mechanical parameters can be optimized by lamination. The polarizer is fixed between two optical glasses with optical adhesive like a sandwich and the outer sides are polished flat.

    • Transmitted wavefront distortion (TWD) < λ/4 (at 633 nm over Ø10 mm)
    • Beam deflection < 1 arc min.

    Standard thickness of laminated and polished colorPol® is 2.0 mm. Other thicknesses are possible on request.

    • Reduced temperature resistance and laser damage threshold


    Polarization axis

    The polarization axis can be selected with an accuracy of 0.5°. For unmounted polarizers, the polarization axis can be marked by two points if desired.

    Hint: If the polarization axis is parallel to an edge in rectangular format, select different edge lengths. This way the polarization axis can be easily identified.



    Unlike a conventional linear polarizer, which offers the same optical properties over the entire clear aperture, a structured polarizer is divided into segments. The segments can have different optical properties such as the orientation of the polarization axis or the wavelength range or they can be opaque or transparent. Size, shape and number of segments with different optical properties determine which of CODIXX's unique manufacturing technologies can be applied.
